Apr 14 – Riverside Walk and Weeping Rock

Today we took it easy and headed back into the canyon to do two of the very short walks that we had skipped on other days.

The shuttle was packed both ways, standing room only. Also, since these were very easy trails they were very busy as well.

Riverside walk starts at the end of the shuttle road and follows the Virgin River for a mile. At the end of the walk you can start walking in the river to the famous Zion Narrows.

We tried to capture a picture of this butterfly several times.

The walkway, at times, is carved in to the side of the wall.

At one point parents were letting their kids slide down this rock. One even did it face first. I was worried he would get a broken jaw when he hit bottom.

We got rained on a few times.

Here is the start of the Narrows Trail. You have to start wading.

Farther up the canyon, you will be up to your chest in water and it was cold.

There are several places in town where you can rent water shoes, hip waders, dry or wet suits and hiking poles.

Jennie did not seem at all interested. I may take a morning and do it myself.

Heading back to the shuttle, we checked out some of the access points to the river.

Back on the shuttle, we went two stops to Weeping Rock. It is a very short trail that goes up to an overhang with lots of dripping water.

Most of the time it was pretty crowded here as well.
